At Ninebark, people and nature are our driving forces. That's why we've designed a place that looks out for both. Committed to community and the planet, Ninebark goes the extra mile to uphold our impact-driven vision in the following ways.
Sustainability
Ninebark stands as a shining example of sustainable living. From its inception, Ninebark was conceived as an all-electric community, a deliberate choice to minimize our ecological footprint. Our commitment to sustainability extends deep into our infrastructure, with locally sourced FSC lumber, responsibly harvested from nearby forests, gracing our residential buildings and on-site signage. The Riverside Retreat, our architectural gem, embodies our dedication to eco-friendly living by being fully net-zero, thanks to its rooftop solar panels providing 100% of its energy needs. In fact, all our residential buildings are designed and constructed to be net-zero ready, with no gas utility and infrastructure in place for future solar panel installations. We're also at the forefront of electric vehicle (EV) adoption with 72 EV charging stations in place and room for an additional 71 on-site, making EV ownership accessible and convenient for our community. To further reduce our environmental impact, we've introduced an innovative on-site composting program through a partnership with Waste Connections, ensuring that usable nutrients are diverted from landfills, reflecting our commitment to sustainability and responsible living.
Alvéole Pollinator Program
At Ninebark, our commitment to sustainability and our residents goes hand in hand. We've partnered with Alvéole, a dedicated beekeeper service provider, to bring you our exciting Pollinator Program. Nestled within our community, two thriving beehives are working diligently to produce annual harvests of custom-branded move-in gifts exclusively for Ninebark residents. Imagine receiving jars of honey, candles, bars of soap, and lip balm sticks, all bearing the sweet essence of our resident pollinators. This initiative not only celebrates the natural world but also underscores our commitment to environmental stewardship and the preservation of these remarkable creatures. Join us in supporting this vital program and enjoy sustainable living at Ninebark, where nature and community flourish together. Check in on our Ninebark hive here!
Voluntary Income Restricted Housing
Our region faces steep challenges related to housing access and affordability and at Ninebark we feel compelled to be a part of the solution with a lasting impact. That’s why we’ve made a voluntary commitment to our community to offer a limited number of quality apartment homes with rent that’s accessible to a wide range of individuals and families. These homes are offered to households who make 80% or less than the Median Family Income (MFI) as designated by HUD in the Vancouver-Portland metro area. This program ensures residents' monthly housing expenses will not exceed more than 30% of their monthly income. To learn more, reach out to our leasing team.
Columbia Land Trust
Ninebark is helping preserve old-growth forestland near Ross Mountain in Corbett, Oregon with a contribution to Columbia Land Trust. Our investment allows them to progress local forest conservation efforts which provides carbon sequestration and protects wildlife habitat and water quality for the region. The value of our contribution was derived by estimating the annual carbon footprint of the Ninebark community’s operations and applying the federal government’s social cost of carbon at the time of construction, effectively mitigating the operational carbon footprint of the Ninebark community through 2030. We view the contribution as one important element of a much larger sustainability effort underway at Ninebark.
Eagle View Park
The vision for Eagle View Park was to provide and cultivate public gathering spaces for both Ninebark residents and the greater community to enjoy the expansive views of the Columbia River. A one-acre public park was created along the southern edge of Ninebark and consists of a paved walking path and meandering trails that feature seating, artwork, and community gathering spaces. The park sits between the Columbia River riparian area and the Ninebark buildings. Eagle View Park is open to the public from sunrise to sunset.
